Acupressure is based on one the most ancient principles of healing - that simply touching a specific point on the body will release stress and improve health in the body. In an acupressure session, we apply firm pressure directly to these "points" on your body, which relieves your muscle tension and improves your circulation.
This simple and powerful technique has been shown to very effective in treating headaches, backaches, and even insomnia.
Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) is often used in Sports, Deep Tissue, Range of Motion and Medical Massage and is a dynamic system for improving your flexibility and overall well-being.
As you probably already know, stretching your muscles not only reduces your chance of injury, but also strengthens your tendons and improves your circulation.
Aromatherapy Massage. Your aromatherapist will take a case history and decide on the most appropriate blend of essential oils to use. These will be added to a carrier oil and applied to your skin through massage. The oils are absorbed in minute and safe quantities and thus have a direct effect on your body. Aromatherapy is a cumulative therapy; an individual session can be very beneficial but for help with specific problems, or as a preventative treatment, regular sessions are recommended.
An aromatherapy session can alleviate stress and tension and often induces a sense of deep relaxation, increased well-being, renewed energy and vigour. Studies demonstrate that regular Aromatherapy massage can help with particular ailments including muscle aches and pains, skin problems, indigestion, asthma, insomnia, anxiety and depression.

Cupping is used to stimulate the movement of Qi and blood in the body to help relieve muscle aches, pain, and improve circulation. It can also be used to draw out toxins to help clear pathogens such as a common cold. The glass cups are applied to the skin using suction, which is achieved either by burning a material inside the cup to burn up the oxygen or with a manual vacuum set with a pump to remove air.
Depending on your presenting condition, cups are left stationary for 5-10 minutes and are also used to massage the body. Stationary cupping is used in to clear stagnation of blood; to facilitate the release of pathogenic factors; and to dispel internal heat.
With massage, the edge of the cup can be used to "scoop" in a cross-fiber movement, and vigorous circles feel marvelous on the hips, thighs and shoulders. Long strokes down the sides of the spine and along the ribs provide ease of movement for ribcage expansion and breathing. Stubborn neck tension is soothed with a gentle approach.
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don’t get too uncomfortable.
Keep in mind that tenderness is common after the treatment and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.
Ear Candling creates a low-level vacuum that draws ear wax and other debris out of the ear and into the hollow candle. After the procedure, a dark, waxy substance is usually left in the stub of the candle.
Ear candling is a safe, simple home remedy for gently removing excess wax and toxins from inside the ears and eustachian tubes. Long, tapered cones are inserted into the ears and lit. The waxy, tackysmoke generated by the beeswax cones spirals down into the eustachian tube and then returns the toxins which adhere back to the cone. The entire process is relaxing and noninvasive.
Fibromyalgia is associated with widespread chronic pain, fatigue, memory problems and mood changes. It occurs more often in woman than in men, and is not a disease, but rather a syndrome that can be managed. Fortunately, fibromyalgia is not life threatening and does not lead to muscle or joint damage.
Benefits of Massage Therapy for Fibromyalgia include circulation encouragement in muscles which increases the flow of nutrients and eliminates waste products. This is primarily beneficial for those with fibromyalgia as it can reduce heart rate, relax muscles, improve the range of motion in joints and increase production of the body's natural painkillers.
Geriatric massage is a form of massage designed to meet the specific needs of the elderly. It helps to improve blood circulation, relieve pain, and also increase range of motion.
If you are elderly, geriatric massage can help you maintain and improve your overall health, as well as regain certain physical functions that have been reduced due to aging. In addition, since the elderly don't typically receive enough physical touch, this massage can also help alleviate symptoms of loneliness or depression.
Hot Stone Massage/Cold Stone Therapy are types of bodywork that use deep penetrating heat and/or alternating cold from specialized stones. The physiological benefits of alternating hot and cold to the body have long been scientifically and medically proven.
Stone Therapy delivers a profound expansion and contraction inside your circulatory system, improving the function of your lymphatic and immune systems, and enhancing your body’s self-healing mechanisms. This style of bodywork takes you into deep states of relaxation, releasing stress and anxiety, detoxifying the body, and balancing your nervous system.
Lymphatic Drainage Massage aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. As both a preventative and remedial technique, Lymphatic Massage can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury and strengthened resistance to illness. Also assisting with the reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy or post surgery: liposuction, mastectomy, post breast augmentation.
It can help with a compromised immune system, where you find yourself feeling fatigued and constantly catching ‘whatever is going around’.
Because this style of Massage stimulates the lymphatic system, the body's most powerful system of detoxification, we recommend around 6 to 10 Lymph Drainage Sessions as the treatments build on each other and the body has time to neutralizing toxins and wastes created from food, pollution and our own body's daily cellular activities. The lymphatic system is also responsible for housing and transporting immune cells so it is possible in some cases when working through the first of multiple sessions that you may feel sick after receiving a lymphatic massage. Every person will respond to Lymph Drainage Therapy differently as some people may already be experiencing symptoms of sickness prior receiving this work! Changes can occur immediately and sometimes up to seven days after treatment.

Myofascial Release Therapy is a form of soft tissue therapy intended to eliminate pain, increase range of motion, and rebalance the entire body. It does this by using massage techniques to stretch the fascia and release the bonds that exist between the fascia, muscles and bones. Fascia is the connective tissue that connects and covers all muscles, organs, and skeletal structures of the body. Direct myofascial release is sometimes known as deep tissue work. Indirect release applies light pressure and gently stretches the fascia; this allows for increased blood circulation and relief from pain.
Myoskeletal Alignment Technique (MAT) is a type of bodywork which blends the principles of osteopathy and structural integration to relieve chronic pain, and to reduce the potential for the emergence of pain which could become chronic over time. This technique is often integrated into regular massage and bodywork sessions, and it can also be used alone to treat systemic problems. Practitioners of myoskeletal alignment technique can be found in many regions of the world. The focus of this technique is on back and neck pain in particular, since this type of pain is extremely common in the industrialized world.
Migraine headaches occur when blood vessels around the temples and base of the skull become enlarged, causing a chemical release that inflames the vessels, muscles and nerves in the head and neck. Besides pain, nausea, diarrhea, and sensitivity to light can occur and last for hours or days.
According to 2006 information on the American Massage Therapy Association website, 45 million Americans suffered from frequent migraines. If you are included in this number, you know how maddening and painful they can be: however, you may not have known that they can be treated by Medical Massage.
Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) is the utliization of static pressure on specific myofascial points to relieve pain. Pain specific to the point of muscle contact and balance the central nervous system in conjunction with the musculoskeletal system. The release of the trigger points relieves pain by increasing the blood flow to the ischemic area. An ischemic area has restricted blood flow due to muscle constriction or nerve compression. NMT releases nerve compression on soft tissue, cartilage or bone. Neuromuscular therapy also enhances the function of joints and muscles, and accelerates the overall healing process by facilitating the release of endorphins.

According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into the feet. Reflexology treatments have been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches and depression.
Shiatsu Massage is a Japanese form of massage. The word Shiatsu comes from two Japanese words - "shi" (finger) and "atsu" (pressure). In addition to the direct stimulation of pressure points along the energy pathways of your body, gentle stretching techniques are applied over a wider area of the body to integrate the point work and encourage the flow of Qi (energy) throughout the body.
Shiatsu is a meditative healing art that honors the body, mind and spirit. Shiatsu can also be used to treat muscular pain, stress symptoms, hormonal imbalance and help to improve organ function and general well-being.

Thai Massage is more energizing and rigorous than most other forms of massage therapy. With deep stretches, compression of muscles by palm pressure and joint mobilization, Thai Massage is the total workout and reconnection our body, mind and soul are so often seeking.
Traditionally the therapy is preformed on a cushioned floor mat instead of a raised table. Palms and thumb pressing is used rather than gliding strokes. Blending gentle rocking, rhythmic accupressure and yoga-like stretches to help relax and revitalize the body. Thai massage is remarkable for promoting energy flow and flexibility. It is often called Thai Yoga massage, because we use hands, knees, legs, and feet to move you into a series of yoga-like postures and stretches. Clients say Thai massage is like doing yoga without doing any of the work. No oil is applied, so you are fully dressed during the session. A single Thai massage session will help you release stress and relieve pain, and help you function more effectively at work and home.
Our Specialist Angie offers a fusion of deep tissue, shiatsu and or thai massage on the massage table.
Trigger Point Therapy is often used in Deep Tissue/Medical and Sports Massage. It is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing "trigger points" in your body. Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle rather than along the energy pathways of the body.
These "knots" are built up throughout a person's life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress. During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques in order to release your trigger points. This process can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.
Teishin Therapy is needleless Acupuncture and is useful for patients who are averse to needles. Teishin therapy is an "in-between" therapy described as ultra-focused acupressure and it can greatly manage the stress response. With Teishin therapy, there is no penetration of the skin and, therefore, there is no issue of regulation or sanitation.
Teishin can be applied to the body (meridian channel points) or to areas like the ear and scalp, which have strong and immediate effects on the nervous system.
